In 2008, Churches Together in Keynsham and Saltford are organising a wide ranging and exciting programme for the whole community -
'More to Life 08'.

Recognising that God plays in every scene of life, 'More to Life 08' is seeking to discover spiritual signposts amidst the passions of life which engage people's hearts today.

Each month of the year will be devoted to a specific theme as detailed in the menu above.

February - Family and friends

More to life February Events:

We all need people around us to live with, to journey with, to dream with, to laugh with and to talk serious nonsense with... This month has opportunities to celebrate our friendships and our families and maybe to make great relationships even stronger

This month definitely had plenty of opportunities to celebrate friendships, families and consider making great relationships even stronger. There was a lot to think about, a lot of laughter and some very good food! Many of us found out even more about the people around us we thought we knew. Here’s what some of you thought...

Feb 3rd Marriage Preparation Day

“Very practical – gave us time to reflect on our commitment and marriage”

Feb 13th The Journey of Family Life - Mark and Lindsay Melluish

“Our first child is due in early March and we found the Mark & Lindsay Melluish event particularly relevant - we picked up some useful tips which we will hopefully put into practice!”

“Listening to Mark and Lindsey was really inspiring. They were demonstratively enthusiastic about being parents, and that reminded us of how privileged we are to be parents. The things they said were simple, memorable and easy to relate to. We feel we have read our children's behaviour better since the parenting evening just by listening better and focusing only on what is important.”

Feb 16th Gracenotes Recital

“...an unexpected delight. Karin Thyselius, the singer, captivated us from the outset, with her poise and a voice that moved effortlessly between styles and had such beautiful and varying tone qualities. The accompanist, Michael Brownlee Walker, supported and communicated with the singer in playing that was subtle and sensitive, yet at times, we were thrilled by moments of solo piano enabling him to demonstrate his technical brilliance. Patrick's beautiful poetry interspersed the music, linking with its themes, giving time for reflection. This really was an evening of enrichment for the soul.”

Feb 25th Spend Some Time

“This evening was definitely the highlight of the month for us. Being able to find some time and space to chat, together and with friends, in a relaxed atmosphere, was great. The quizzes brought back many memories of times we'd spent together, and the live music was excellent, adding to the ambience. Of course, the chocolate fountain (an inspired idea) which ran all evening, with fresh fruit and sweet dips, was delicious and loved by everyone there!”

Feb 29th Men’s Curry Night with Harry Benson

“Nearly fifty men from Saltford and Keynsham came to the Men’s Curry Night. A choice of four curries, plus rice, poppadoms, pickles and raita went down very well, with many returning for seconds!

Over coffee, our guest speaker, Harry Benson, director of the Bristol Community Family Trust, gave an excellent talk about the need to reverse the tide of family breakdown and how he came to set up the BCFT to help couples at critical times. We were given advice on how to maintain a lasting relationship and why dedication is so important for men.

A lively question and answer session followed, during which Harry told us how he became a Christian and the important part his faith plays in his work with the BCFT. We had to call time on the proceedings as it appeared the questions would have continued late into the night!”

NEXT MONTH

Sport

It has been observed that 'where there is sport, there is scandal'. This month offers the opportunity to rediscover the lost joy of sport.
Motivational talks, coaching and the opportunity to meet leading sports people and question them about their experiences. These opportunities will be offered to all ages in schools and local clubs. Whether you are an active participant or armchair enthusiast, don't miss out!
