In 2008, Churches Together in Keynsham and Saltford are organising a wide ranging and exciting programme for the whole community -
'More to Life 08'.

Recognising that God plays in every scene of life, 'More to Life 08' is seeking to discover spiritual signposts amidst the passions of life which engage people's hearts today.

Each month of the year will be devoted to a specific theme as detailed in the menu above.

REPORTING ON

'The extreme, naked explorer' - Benedict Allen

Thursday 10 January 7:30 pm, Broadlands School

A report on the event...

This report appeared in the Wellsway School Ammonite magazine: This week, Year 10 had the pleasure of an hour in the company of Benedict Allen the global explorer. Benedict explained how he had coped in difficult times during his explorations and on the importance of remaining open to new ideas and of lifelong learning. In particular, students were fascinated to learn of Benedict's involvement in a seven week tribal initiation ceremony and his further travels through the Amazon basin. Benedict's enthusiasm and superb presentation gave a real sense of the wonder that our world can provide and reminded our students that they can do anything, should they want to. It also contributed to our students wider cultural awareness. We are, as always, very grateful to the Reverend John Samways for providing the link with Benedict and introducing us all to the fantastic More to Life 08 programme running in Keynsham this year.

Benedict Allen - dubbed the 'most fearless man on TV'. Explorer, adventurer, author, television presenter and motivational speaker.

Benedict?

Benedict is a world renowned explorer who has left his footprints on places such as Mongolia's Gobi Desert and the Amazon rainforest. His accounts of solo expeditions have been widely broadcast and he is famous for travelling without GPS, stelite phone or any back up through some of the most inhospitable environments on earth.

Wow!

School pupils in London write:

Benedict Allen visited our school to tell us about some of his adventures, including how he struggled through the humid Amazon only to be shot at randomly by tribal hunter/killers while in a canoe and how he endured weeks alone in both the Gobi Desert and Bering Straits. In the Namib Desert his companions for three and a half months were three reluctant camels - and only those camels. There he fought a psychological battle with the stubborn animals and persuaded them to carry his equipment across the desert. He was a thoroughly interesting individual and we would strongly encourage anyone to read one of the many books, written by "a cat who has lost six of his nine lives".
