This has been a truly beautiful evening.
It was a shame that there were technical problems with the live netcast, and that the recording similarly failed. We hope that these will be overcome before the next superb events.
Reviews from the Edinburgh Festival: 'Outstanding, memorable and brave innovation that stirs the soul', 'A perfect, magical balance of voice, piano and poetry.' 'Allowed me to stop the world and get off to reflect.'
Classical song with complementing poetry. Musically, attendees are in for a near world-class treat!
The recital will be divided into musical sections of oratorio [Handel and Vivaldi], accessible German lieder [including Schubert, Schumann and Mendelssohn].Then, after the interval, the Elizabethan Lyrics song cycle [Roger Quilter; completed exactly 100 years ago], and, finally opera [arias by Mozart, Puccini and Verdi].
Four short poem sequences will interweave these music sections and will reflect the February "relationships and family" theme of More to Life.
